Explicit Teaching in Secondary Mathematics
Are you looking for engaging, meaningful ways to explain or convey mathematical concepts to your 7-10 students? Ready-made lessons that you can take straight into your class? Then this course is for you. Participants engage with a variety of pre-made, engaging lessons, focussed on the purpose of the mathematics. The aim of each lesson activity is to convey mathematical concepts from the NSW 7-10 (2022) syllabus in a meaningful way without adding to the teachers load of content to get through in a term. Lesson activities are designed with the intention that students become ready for independent practice of a syllabus skill directly following the activities.
Participants will leave this course empowered to create, facilitate and enjoy lessons with purpose. Teachers take with them a package of lessons prepared for classroom use, including accompanying worksheets and example answers.

This course is aimed at teachers of 7-10 mathematics who are looking to enhance opportunities for students to use connections between mathematical concepts and explicitly teach concepts in interesting ways focused on purpose and meaning.
